You’ve tried the systems. The routines. The stricter schedule and the longer to-do list and the Sunday reset that was supposed to change everything.
And you’re still exhausted. Still overwhelmed. Still wondering what you’re missing.
What if the reason nothing is working isn’t because you’re doing it wrong — but because you’re solving the wrong problem entirely?
That’s what this episode is about. And it starts with a bathtub.
Your nervous system is a container
Picture a bathtub. Your nervous system works exactly like one — it has a finite capacity. When it’s full, everything spills over. That overflow is what we call overwhelm, reactivity, exhaustion, and the flatness that settles in when you’re running on empty for too long.
This isn’t a character flaw. It’s not proof that you can’t handle your life. It’s physics. And there are exactly two reasons it keeps happening.
Reason one: the faucet is on full blast
Everything coming into your system — demands, schedules, mental load, emotional labor, noise, decisions, expectations — is the faucet. For most high-achieving women, it never fully turns off. There’s always more coming in. The inbox refills. The kids need something. Another task appears before the last one is finished.
The faucet runs constantly. And the water keeps rising.
Reason two: the drain is stopped
Your ability to release, discharge, and complete stress — emotionally and physically — is the drain. And for most women, it’s partially or fully blocked.
Unprocessed emotions that never got felt and moved through. Stress cycles that started and never finished. Rest that looked like downtime but didn’t actually restore anything. No real recovery. Nowhere for the water to go.
Most women are dealing with both simultaneously. Faucet on full blast, drain stopped. Which is why the container keeps overflowing no matter how much gets optimized.
Why productivity solutions don’t fix this
Better planning. Tighter routines. More discipline. These are faucet interventions at best — and partial ones at that. They don’t clear the drain. They don’t expand the container. They don’t address what’s happening at the level of the nervous system.
This is the core problem: she’s been applying a productivity solution to a nervous system problem.
That’s not a mindset failure. It’s a misdiagnosis. And it explains why the same issues keep showing up no matter how much she adjusts her external circumstances.
Constrictors vs. expanders
There are things that shrink capacity — constrictors. Low body awareness. Inability to complete the stress cycle. Suboptimal basics like sleep, nutrition, hydration, and movement. Inadequate coping tools. Poor emotional regulation. Porous boundaries. Mindsets that keep the nervous system in dysregulation — urgency, scarcity, and a victim orientation to circumstances.
And there are things that expand capacity — expanders. The opposites of all of the above.
Most women already know some version of their constrictors. They know they’re not sleeping enough. They know the boundaries need work. They know the emotional regulation could be better.
What they don’t know is which constrictor is costing them the most — and which area, if addressed first, would create the greatest ripple effect across everything else.
That’s the question worth answering.
The Capacity Audit
On June 3rd, the Capacity Audit gives you exactly that answer. A guided self-assessment across all five capacity areas — emotional, stress, physical and energetic, relational, and joy — with real-time interpretation of what your patterns are showing and specific tools to start working on your highest-leverage area before the weekend.
Not theory. Not homework for later. Clarity and a clear next move.
Where to start
Listen to this episode for the full faucet and drain framework, the constrictors and expanders breakdown, and why the most important thing you can do right now isn’t another productivity system — it’s figuring out where your capacity is actually lowest and starting there.
Then come to The Capacity Audit on June 3rd to find out exactly what that area is for you.
